There are over 4.4 million burglaries in the US annually. 1.1 million of those cases are home invasions where the homeowner and/or members of the household are home when the break-in occurs. Hardly a rare event. There are typically 2-4 intruders involved in a home invasion and they are usually armed. That's a perfect reason to own an AR-15.
