Is school shooting linked to lack of gun control

Another terrible school shooting in the States. One send it to commented that the United States is the only country that has this problem . When are they going to wake up to the fact that the easy availability of guns is the major factor? I love the American people and have some great friends and relatives over there but I just cannot understand the thought process on this issue .

The problem is very complex. For one our second amendment guarantees the right to bare arms. There are only two ways to overrule that amendment as well as any other amendment.

Now given the current body of Congress the first method is impossible they would never ever vote for such an amendment. They are the ones that are for the second amendment and are backed by a extremely powerful lobby.

The second method would be a constitutional convention.
And a constitutional convention brings up a whole lot of other problems that most would rather not face. It could be a constitutional crises and it could be a disaster that could lead up to a civil war.

So for the time being we are in a quandary full of quick sand.

Actually, the second amendment is up to interpretation. It doesn't explicitly guarantee the right to bear arms, and some interpretations of it show that it could actually be used to advocate for gun control.

@folks Sadly It will never be repealed by interpretation.
