Scribbles Amen to that.
A couple of nights ago, I watched a TV documentary (it was originally produced by HBO) called "Requiem For The Dead: An American Spring 2014". It showed the gun deaths in America during the period 20th March to 20th June 2014. There was no narrative, no commentary, no message or agenda being pushed. Simply the events as they unfolded, as they occurred, and their brief aftermath. All of the footage was taken from social media, news reports, police reports and the recordings of calls to 911.
The shootings ranged from accidental to murder/suicides to gang related to "simple" murder. One guy was doing something with his gun when it went off, the bullet travelled to the next room where it hit his wife who was quietly watching the TV. She died. Another was of two young kids who were playing with their fathers loaded gun (which was under the bed - he had another handgun sitting on a dresser). One kid shot and killed the other.
It went on and on and on. One senseless death after another. With every type of gun imaginable being used.
More than 8,000 people were killed by guns during those few short months. Approximately 32,000 people are shot and killed every year in America. That's an average of 88 deaths per day. There are currently 310 million guns legally circulating in America. That's one for every man, woman and child.
FFS WHY?
