Gun control in the US.
Is there a good argument for NOT limiting the weapons to which civilians have access? Like these AR-15s or whatever. How is making them illegal a bad thing?

Because it goes against the constitution which was set in place that the government would never massively overpower the people in case of the need to overthrow the government itself...
With the government already having access to Tanks, Planes, and the like.. If all of a sudden you take away the one and only final defense that the people have.. Political figures will more than likely make use of that... The constitution was written in place of prevention of such scenarios. To say otherwise is to be an ignorant in thinking that people who say things that "Sound nice" don't actually plan on abusing that situation of power by taking away citizens rights and leaving them all but defenseless...
It's all very self explanatory really, when you know your rights and what the founding fathers explicitly had written for the sake of civilians...

@Celine Mass numbers still give you far higher chances, especially with the likelihood of many within a government field place in the military turning over to assist the good of the civilians.. But nothing can be done if the civilians have nothing but pea shooters... It becomes a tyrannical government by then...
If you don't know these things then clearly you know nothing about world history, wars, revolutionary movements, and strategy...
And all you're focused on is "Idealism" preached to you because it sounds like a solution when really it's more of a problem...

@Celine Actually, yes... I do... Because only a complete ignoramus who hasn't studied war and the power of the people who ARE ARMED vs. the nations who were UNARMED...
Outcomes would be very different.. A government would be overthrown.. The fact that you don't understand things like world war 2 where there was indeed a difference in the military technology of the Germans vs. The British for example... Doesn't change the fact that the strategies, numbers, and time didn't all play into it... Honestly if you're just going to talk out of your ass about everything then what's the point?
You clearly don't understand Military matters, which is why you don't understand why the founding fathers felt the express need for this law... Thank goodness for wiser beings than you being born far before and having foresight into such matters...
They would be telling you the same thing as I am now... And think of you as extremely foolish for believing in the façade of ideals that hold no grounds in the examples given by the real world...

@Celine You're deflecting reality with tragedy... What can happen in a mass shooting can happen in a plane crash.. It can happen in Twin Towers falling down.. Are you now going to advocate a complete abolition of all middle eastern peoples because they have the potential to bring down more high-rise buildings full of innocents with planes?
