The channel jigrants are justva minor distraction. Tte real imkigrant issue is thd rapidly increasing number obf legal migrants from the likes of India, Pakistan, etc. This is of course what Brexiters voted for, though they were too dumb to realise. Before Brexit we did have a rolling number of EU immigrants, most of whom stayed for a limited period before returning to their home country. Immigrants from Asia do not, in the main, return home. And yes we do need to do something about the skills etc of the UK workforce, but that's not going to happen overnight, and will require Government action to prioritise improving education and ensuring companies are serious about training their existing workforce.
Do I see Labour doing what's required, probably not, and definitely within the life of one Parliament, but they have to be a better option than the utterly incompetent and corrupt tories. Will I be voting Labour? No, I won't, because I live in Scotland and there are other options. I mighg be tempted by Labour if they would commit to rejoining the EU and introducing PR. Until they do I'll look at other options, which some maybe see as a wasted vote. However, other parties have to get backing otherwise we're stuck with basically buggin's turn, the two main parties swapping over every time one demonstrates gross incompetence eg current tory party, or a worldwide crisis event occurs fo which the Government is blamed eg Labour with the 2008 Financial meltdown. Sadly revolution almost never works, so we need evolution, and that means voting for parties that we want to see in power, and not voting against one of the two cheeks of the same arse!
