Damn! We got the 1930's propaganda machine going!

Okay, how? If the tarrifs are costing Americans more money and have resulted in a job loss of 30,000 with no gains in the last quarter, and no one is making living wages, how do they intend to do this? What's their plan?

In defense of the tariffs, long-term they will make it more appealing to manufacture and sell inside national boundaries. It's the interrim that's the problem. For the present, they are a disruption to the economic global order. The upshot will be slowing the spresd of globalization. Not that I'm for them, just that there is a logic behind them. Americans are narrowly focused on the present and rarely look to the horizon.

@Alyosha No sane person can knowingly defend tariffs and keep a straight face.

Tariffs. Cost. The. Consumer. Aka You.

@justanothername I agree. Unless the government demands that companies that import don't eat the costs, they always fall on the consumer.

If the businesses don't suffer any losses that inspire them to move back to the US to create jobs and products, they will just keep adding the costs onto the products.

@FoxyGoddess List a company that is eating the cost of a 25% tariff and not passing it on to the end consumer.

Ill wait while you google.

Any company that eats the cost of a tariff will see a 25% or more reduction in their bottom line profit. Trust me when I say that NO company wants to see their profits take any percentage hit from tariffs.

@FoxyGoddess Remember the tariffs are Trumps idea. He’s the same guy who BANKRUPTED at least 4 of his own casinos and who has NEVER filed a legitimate tax return for any of his businesses. EVER.

I didn't say any company was. I said that unless they are required to by government, they never will and will always pass it to the consumer.

I don't support the tarrifs at all.

Studies have proven that tarrifs are bad both long and short term. The only thing they will do is continue to destabilize the economy and make things more expensive than they should be.
