How do you feel about the US government shutdown?

I feel like the Democrats should pass the clean cr open the government then negotiate out the terms for their desires. The Obama subsidy that they claim is so important doesn’t even expire until the end of the year. They have ample time to hash out a agreement.

@specman
The Republicans have to show up at the meeting though!

So far, the Republicans haven't returned to their offices from the summer break because their break isn't over yet! Nice work if you can find it!

@swirlie it’s already past the House! The Senate which have been there is where it is now
@specman Of course you would believe to believe exactly what you are told to believe 🐑

The reality is the law says the prices have to be locked in by November so they only have less than two weeks to make changes, unless you actually believe the party blocking changes would be willing to make even MORE changes after getting exactly what they wanted by giving up nothing.

So if they see keeping healthcare prices lower, they should be fighting for it BEFORE November.

Of course, who cares what the poor people have to pay for healthcare prices, it's not like the President actually gives a crap about them or their lives.

@specman
That's fine, but everyone is still up at their cottages on the lake, not in DC trying to get the government back to work! That was my point.

@swirlie not the senate. Just the house Republicans which can do nothing about the shutdown. The House Democrats and Republicans have already done their job.
@specman No the House is supposed to be working right now, and instead they're at home getting behind on work, at least according to the Republicans.

Which have also stated they'll have to work extra long hours when they return to try to catch-up

And yes they passed something, but they knew darn well it wouldn't be approved. So they they didn't do anything worth the time it cost...

@specman The problem with that is that even IF (and its a big if) the Republicans were willing to negotiate, Trump wont allow it and he now owns the Republican Party (literally). So the only way to negotiate anything is from a position of strength. Once the bill is passed, the democrats have no leverage at all..😷
@whowasthatmaskedman Basically, so if the Republicans aren't going to allow for any Democrats input, why should the Democrats help the Republicans?

Trump refuses to work with others...

Plus, I think this potential could be part of Trump's plan, to get the Senate Republicans to end the filibuster, in hopes they can rig the elections easier to guarantee Republicans win in 2026 (which he's basically said that part out loud already, so that's not really a guess or assumption)...

But to add a guess or assumption onto that, I think he's also hopeful that will also help him, some how, to run for office for a 3rd term...

Or claim he's started a war with the drug cartels, and during a war time, a President doesn't have to leave as long as the war continues...

@sstronaut Yes. I can see all those points. And they have merit. But there is a deeper, but more pervasive message. More important than Trump. And thats Money. America owes the world close to $40 Trillion it can never pay back. The interest alone is over a $ Trillion a year. And the rich in America know that pretty soon there will be a reckoning. Nations are selling off their US securities and thats all that is keeping the $US afloat. So there is a rush to offshore money and assets. (Think John Deere and Harley Davidson) and buy any solid asset like gold or land. Now trump and his policies are actually helping this agenda. And when the economy does collapse it will open up opportunities to establish a different political system where the rich run things and the rest do as they are told. So the big picture is to take America itself. And society and law and order breaking down are part of the preperation for that. By the time things get bad you will be pleased to see the military to restore order. Until they dont leave..😷
@whowasthatmaskedman That's IF that happens in our lifetime... they might be 100 days off or 100 decades off...

That's like worrying about the Yellowstone Super volcano to explode (which it could any day... or could be 100 decades off too)... but we're in the range where it supposed to be happening...

We have to focus more on the items that are controllable.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@sstronaut I completely agree. But do you plan to build near Yellowstone any time soon?😷
@whowasthatmaskedman Nope, but it's a Super Volcano... when it goes off, it's supposed to effect the entire world...

Especially the areas within a certain radius of it (which no, I do not plan to be in), but also everything to the the east of it is supposed to get layered in ash (which the entire mod west and northern east coast is in the way of).

And the ash is supposed to go world around and stay up there for months cooling off the earth as less sunlight is getting through.

whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@sstronaut Yes. I have looked at the numbers and I figure the flyover states are more or less gone if it happens. But as you say, There is nothing we can do about it. Except be elsewhere when it happens.😷

@whowasthatmaskedman after seeing all that Trump is doing has me questioning his motives
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@specman REALLY!!! You doubt the Great Leader?? Christie the pup killer is going to send people to check your citizenship!😷
specman · 51-55, MVIP
@whowasthatmaskedman nowadays I can’t understand the ways the way he does things.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@specman Sadly, I does make some perverse sense if you consider him as a sociopath, trying to create disorder.😷
