Having been to multiple countries, I would have to agree with you. I'm definitely not proud of what is happening in multiple ways.
This most definitely needs to change. Only the matter of how is up for debate.
I'm very much a non violent person. So that for me is out of the question.
Yet I do protest just about everything that our dictator Trump has DICTATED!
Freedoms with Trump is a matter of the semantics of freedoms for the ultra wealthy.
Not freedoms for everyone.

As a Canadian citizen living within 20 minutes of a Canada/US border, I can tell you with pure objectivity that any American I've ever met has been unequivocally convinced since their early childhood that the USA ranked #1 in the world with the most freedom and the highest standard of living money can buy... with borrowed money of course. But perception is everything, right?
When someone says that to you who has obviously never been outside the confines of his own country's borders, what can you really say to him in response that he would be able to comprehend on even the most basic level of understanding? Is there any point in even broaching that subject? 🇨🇦

@swirlie It is more amusement at seeing that indoctrination get shattered by something as simple as seeing what other countries pay for groceries or doctor's bills.
Never thought a Chinese grocery receipt would radicalize Americans.

What radicalized Americans was the 2nd Amendment to their Constitution being taken out of context from it's original writing some 250 years ago, to then be applied to today's cultural standard of living in the USA as if that Amendment still has relevance. 🇨🇦

@swirlie On that we agree at least.

What can we do?
PhoenixPhail · M
@Roundandroundwego Live the best version of your life regardless of conditions.

@PhoenixPhail that's for individuals, but you want to pretend you ain't brought up no collective problems. Okay, I'm all good! The West is at war, on fire, aging and actually dying fast - you got this! Gahead. No collective. No change. Good! Self solving is the problem.

@Roundandroundwego That's me. I'm an individual.

As we slip toward oligarchy and one man rule I'm surprised we did that well

Poll run by canadians

Depends on who did the ranking!
PhoenixPhail · M
@NoGamesTolerated Good point.
These 2 are Americans on holidays.

And it'll only get worse. Part of Project 2025 is banning porn, which would be a crackdown on freedom of speech like Americans won't believe.

Canada is also on the list of countries that is now issuing travel advisories to their citizens to skip the US like they would a 3rd world dictatorship.

Time to watch wag the dog and canadian bacon again.

@NativePortlander1970 Again, your feelings don't matter.
