How come the republican supporters are not upset about the new tariff war?

That is something that will cost us ALL if tariffs actually go through.

Even if it does bring jobs back to America, do you really relish the thought of paying even more for things that are overpriced?

Some think, "At first it may cost more but prices will eventually come down". Didn't trump himself say something about once prices go up, it is really hard to bring them down?

I am just trying to understand why some members of the Right would cheer on someone who is doing things that will hit their wallets even harder.

Well coming from it from an international business perspective all of the countries he's putting tariffs on are currently charging us those tariffs. If they're going to charge us a tariff to sell our products there then Trump's merely saying we're going to charge them at tariff to sell their products here. For so many years the US has been overpaying for everything compared to the rest of the world. There's over 150 countries that get the majority of their revenue from tariffs. If we charge these other countries the same tariffs they're charging us you could easily do away with federal income taxes for people making under $100,000 a year. That would include everybody that's on social security that would include everyone that is on disability that would include everybody making less than 100,000 a year. Now if all these countries are willing to come to the negotiating table and get rid of their tariffs that they're charging on American products then I'm pretty sure Trump would get rid of the tariffs charged to them starting April 2nd.

@dale74 U.S. President Donald Trump continues to single out Canada as a bad trading partner, claiming in a recent social media post that his northern neighbour is a “tariff abuser” that charges high rates on American goods.

The vast majority of U.S. products are not subject to any tariffs under the terms of the North American free trade pact signed by the president during his first term, though recent events have muddied those waters somewhat.

“Ninety-eight or 97 per cent of goods that come into Canada flow in tariff-free,” said Clifford Sosnow, who heads the Fasken law firm’s international trade and investment group.

@NewWorldToronto according to NAFTA there's supposed to be free trade between Mexico the United States and Canada but they have continued to have tariffs on us goods in Canada and some in Mexico but not nearly as many as Canada has.

@dale74 The only Tarrifs Canada had before Trump was what both countries agreed to with the USMCA (NAFTA) signed by US-Trump, Mexico and Canada. Any Tarrifs now from Canada are a response to Tarrifs being introducted by Trump. Trumps tarrifs are notr etaliatory but preditory (97% tarrif free USA to Canada and the remaining 3% was negotiated) .

@dale74 And Canada is going to start moving away from USA purchases because of Trump. https://www.businessinsider.com/canada-weighs-purchase-f-35-fighter-jets-amid-us-portugal-2025-3

@NewWorldToronto good for you although Canada is forcing you to move away from us goods by basically banning them. Because the US isn't banning Canadian imports like Canada is. We may have to pay an added tariff for the product but it's not banned Canada is literally restricting the sale of us products to its citizens and blaming it on the tariff.
