It honestly seems like the downside of creating a system of laws and not men, is that if a few bad eggs get in power and rewrite the laws for all the

bad eggs out there, then everybody, even decent people who can see the system is broken, will just follow along with the twisted laws since it's all so complicated and technical, and nobody is meant to be above it.

Laws.. proper law doesn't have that issue

@whowasthatmaskedman I gotta wonder if this wouldn't have been as much of an issue if the financial system didn't allow the accumulation of nonsensical amounts of wealth. The super rich bought the law, so maybe without that ability things could have been different

@plungesponge You hit the nail on the head. Capitalism is great at growing wealth. (Notice I avoid the word "create")But the balancing force representing the needs of the people has to be the government, who make laws protecting the people from excessive greed and damage to the resources. The pay off for capital out of this is both a productive, educated and healthy workforce and consumers with the means to purchase corporate production. The balance is provided by regulation and taxation. If its done right, progress is happening at the best sustainable pace.. If you stifle profit too much, there is no inventive to innovate. If you starve the employees/customers too much they dont have the means to buy and create revenue for the business.😷
