I Hate The American Government

My husband's job just sent him to China for three weeks. He travels often, so that isn't odd. However, he happens to be part of the federal workforce. You know, one of the people who are considered essential but are forced to work for free? We have already missed two weeks of pay, and it doesn't look like that will change anything soon. Of course, the government obviously isn't directly funding his trip; he has to put it on his government credit card. Now Congress, in its infinite wisdom, actually put the credit card in his name and WE are responsible for paying it off every month. So, are we now required to pay thousands of dollars in addition to working for free?

Well how can it be a government credit if it is his name. I would check into that because he could be an authorized user. The company I work for gave me a credit card in my name but they are responsible for it. Also check your right about working for free and going to china of all place right now may not be a good idea.

@updown2020 It is done weird. Yes, he basically is just an authorized user, but we still get and have to pay the bills. He submits his receipts to the government, they pay him, and he pays the credit card. No, it makes no sense. Since he is considered essential, I am pretty sure they could discipline or fire him for refusing to go to China.
