Capitalism was a response to feudalism, and gave a small group of traders some space to accumulate wealth.

It was never designed to benefit the masses, and because of that, it was never going to do it by accident.
This is precisely why and how socialism was theorised.

It is a big club but you are not in it. And if you are not in the club you are being exploited by it.
