I'm sorry to hear that. I've never known anyone to carry guns (outside of the contexts of hunting/target practice) who weren't doing it to defend themselves.
I once was out running with my father and we found a handgun just sitting in the grass beside the trail. My dad knows how to operate firearms, so he removed the magazine and we jogged back a few miles to his car. On the way back, this fat, middle-aged guy on a bike stopped, and he said, "Hey, I dropped something around here, have you seen it?"
And my father replied, "No, sorry. What was it?"
He says, "It was a thing. I dropped this thing, and I've been looking for it. Just... keep your eyes peeled and let me know if you happen to see it."
We took the gun to a police station. And that's why my dad taught me how to handle and use firearms. There are a lot of irresponsible cunts out there.

Guns are part of our culture. So this is what it is.
