Is Trump conrolled by the fossil fuel lobby?

The rest of the G20 (all 19 others) rebuke Trump and continue with the Paris deal.

http://edition.cnn.com/2017/07/08/europe/g20-merkel-trump-communique/index.html

The Paris deal itself is nowhere near strong enough but is at least a step forward. The lobbyists and neo-con pacs who are 'informing' Trump will have none of it though because it threatens their bottom line. Oligarchic cowboy capitalism is killing the planet and Trump is their figurehead.

Both articles make some very valid observations. And with The Guardian further emphasising its anti big business stance 馃檮

But can anything be said to control Trump? Other than his own self interest and ego that is.

@room101 Well he does have ego and is narcissistic but in a sense that makes him easier to control. You are doing a great job Mr President. We all love you and could you please sign this bill, thanks.

@Burnley123 After the recent puke inducing display of his subordinates praising him and thanking him for giving them the opportunity "to serve", you may be right. However, history shows us that despots with this type of psychopathy are very rarely controlled.
Burnley12341-45, M
@room101 Perhaps its manipulative control, soft control or just a handy convergence of views. Trump is not one for details and all of the people around him know what they are about. Either way, US fossil fuel loves Trump and climate scientists see him as a disaster.

@Burnley123 your closing sentence is undeniable.

What baffles me is the number of Americans who are climate change deniers. For a nation that boasts about being at the forefront of technological advancement, the blatant disregard they have for the scientific community is astonishing.
Burnley12341-45, M
@room101 I can only think it is down to the propaganda campaign successfully making denial of science a partisan political issue.
room10151-55, M
@Burnley123 that and the Christian fundamentalists who insist that:
a) it's God plan
b) God will save the day

Oh, I'm a Christian btw 馃榿
Burnley12341-45, M
@room101 I won't hold that against you LOL. I'm not an anti-theist. I have heard that there are a lot of liberal Christians but they are not politically organised like the Evangelical right.
room10151-55, M
@Burnley123 thank you for that lol.

It's an odd dichotomy that many people like me have to deal with. On the one hand, we fully support the secularism of democracy. On the other hand, we believe that faith has a place in all factors that affect the well being of our species and our planet.
Burnley12341-45, M
@room101 For me that is what Christian values should be about. That people can use Christian values as a reason for voting for Donald Trump is a mystifying contradiction on about a hundred different levels.
room10151-55, M
@Burnley123 that people can use ANY value system to vote for Trump is beyond mystifying. It's ludicrous in the extreme.
