Can You Show Gratitude To The USA on It's Birthday?

There is only one nation the word has any reason to be grateful to whether you are a citizen of it or not. Only one nation that spends its own money and blood in rivers to secure and protect the freedom of people not its own. Only one nation that by it very existence allows you the chance to live in freedom.

One nation, an entire people, would not be alive today were it not for it.

Joseph Conrad wrote - my favotite quote of all time - that you may know a man by his enemies as well as by his friends. The enmeies of this country have been Nazisim. Fascism, Communism - yet defeated them all.

There is only one coutry where people for centuries risk death to go there to live of every race and faith.

I have a prsonal story about this country. Whenever I hear its national anthem sung, I tear and choke up - the infant Republic defeating the worlds greatest superpower of the time. I was at an event held at its embassy and when the anthem stared to be played and sung what happens to me every tie I hear it started to happen again. I fought the tears but could not talk while others around me sang. A very handsome member of the staff came to me holding a sheet of paper. "Here" he said. "These are the words if you want to sing with us". Tears now ran down my face. I could only nod and say "Thank you - I know the words."

They were the same words the inmates at the Nazi death camps herd when they were set free by young men who never met a Jew in their life. I know cause I know some.

I am not interested in hearing a list of this nation's failings. It is the favorite leftist dodge of false equivalency. If we married or loved our children by the same criteria we would not and would never have.

On this 4th of July I say I am gratful to a country that is not my own but which allows me to live in as much of a free world as its scacrifices can make for me.

I say God Bless the Unted States of America.

I only pray that the innocent blood we shed is worth the outcome for everyone else. You should study the instigation we commit as well.

@24601a: Yes...that is the end of the telescope you look through? It in no way addresses what I wrote.
