He pandered to the Republican base which is made up of bigots, racists and very ignorant people.

@Underconstruction: Were he to make it to 2020 , do you believe he could be re-elected ?
Niburu · 51-55, M
@Underconstruction: see it's that sort of thinking that has gotten this country into the current mess it's in
whoowho · 41-45, F
@Niburu: We are in this mess because the prior administration did not pay attention > when we started losing Congress members.
We will stay in this mess if Democrats continually refuse to acknowledge their responsibility.
They are, in my opinion, just as arrogant and ignorant as the Right.
They need to change drastically for the sake of our country.

The only hope we have is with the neocons in Congress.
... I never thought I would EVER say those words in my life.
@whoowho: So it's our fault the GOP is full of racists ? I don't buy that.
whoowho · 41-45, F
@bijouxbroussard: The GOP's racism has nothing to do with Obama NOT paying attention to the seats lost under his watch.

He did nothing to stop it.

Now the Democrats are scurrying around trying to get money to fund these midterm elections. Do you know how many emails I get a day from Al Franken etc. asking for money??? At least 20.

Democrats don't get it. No amount of cash is going to win back people's confidence. They need an overhaul and quickly.
@whoowho: Realistically, what do you think Obama should have done ? I agree that he was naive not to consider the GOP the enemy, the way that they seem to consider the Democrats their sworn foe. They basically robbed him of the opportunity to appoint even a moderate SC Justice. So perhaps the Democrats should start fighting dirty, as the GOP has done. This is a streetfight, not a "gentlemen's disagreement".
whoowho · 41-45, F
@bijouxbroussard: With all due respect, when you are President, you have the tools needed to read the political temperature of the country. Look at what Conway did 😒. You mean to tell me the Obama administration did not have a way to track numbers correctly? OR did they just think the media would turn things around? Either way, it did not work. They need to take their message to the people -- if they have one.
@whoowho: I don't understand. Conway was not president, and Trump thinks he's president because everyone loves him, which is not true.
whoowho · 41-45, F
@bijouxbroussard: Trump was losing - Bigly - before Conway and Bannon. Democrats need to ask themselves where are their reliable-accurate polling firms? They need to get a better handle on what the public needs from their political representatives.

Doesn't it anger you that Roger Stone and Steve Bannon was allowed to bushwack this country?

We need to get angry at the people who allowed this to happen NOT the people who lost their jobs and are sick. We need to stand beside them. Maybe then we will get some seats back. Not all of them are racist and ignorant.

@bijouxbroussard: I apologize if I am not expressing myself well - long day. I am enjoying this conversation with you and respect your opinions 🙂
@whoowho: It's intriguing to me, because I do understand what your point is; if some people who voted for Obama and supported Sanders made that 180 and cast their vote for Trump, that's a huge disconnect in terms of what each candidate represents and I would love to know what else could've been done to prevent it. I strongly hesitate to blame Obama because he tried to be non-partisan---supposedly the correct way to behave---and the GOP obstructed him anyway. It's almost comparable to watching someone deliberately put out a foot and trip a person, and then getting angry at the latter for falling.
whoowho · 41-45, F
@bijouxbroussard: I am not saying Obama should have personally done something about it. He should have hired a team to look into why we were losing so many seats. I believe Bill Maher asked him that question. He never got a good answer. Sadly, we are paying for it now. The Republicans want to know why we are so angry? Well, it's because no one had our back and paid attention. I live on the East Coast. In my neighborhood, no one voted for Trump. I wish I knew what was going on in all the states that were hurting. I would have been better prepared. Now we have to rely on Neocons to save us. The thought is not thrilling. 🙄
@whoowho: I do understand. My state and governor have been virtually at war with the Trump administration, with some people talking about seceding (which isn't happening anymore than it did when the anti-Obama factions proposed it). It's a bad situation to be in.
