Imho Trump is an aggressive negotiator so he attacks to throw off the opposition. He does this stuff on purpose. He is not afraid: he is playing them. Thinking Trump is an idiot is a mistake.
Best wishes

@sogdianrock: That may have worked in the world of real estate deals but being president actually requires a bit more subtlety and art. And just for the record , I do indeed think he is an idiot who has barely any grasp of any of the topics of the day. That's the real reason he won't talk to the press ..... because under serious questioning he knows he would be made to look an absolute fool.

I am sure Trump has no grasp as you say but as for art well I disagree. You may be right of course but I think Trump is a different type of politician with his own agenda entirely and he has achieved The Presidency which nobody expected. I think he is very dangerous and laughing at him sort of works to his agenda. Like Boris Johnson he plays the fool effectively although Trump does so as an aggressive clown. Maybe they will both blow it but I think they reach new constituencies of voters and political activists and both are dangerous and clever.

@sogdianrock: I get where you are coming from , but I still disagree. He's no more than an unwitting idiot , both of the Russians and Steve Bannon.

I hope neither of us is right. Either he is an idiot with the nuclear codes or a sociopath with the nuclear codes.
