The Democrats Need To Wake Up - What if Donald Trump Does Not Sink the Republican Party

Trump is your wake up call.

The Democrats put Trump into Power, not the Republicans. Why did he win? Stop looking at the Republicans and look at your own party. The ideological disconnect with the common working person is frightening. Some cleaning lady in Nebraska with no benefits and minimum wage does not give a shit about spending billions (that could go to everyone) to build a third Genderless bathroom.

Focus more on the common people rather than emotional feeling based upon non-rational ideological thinking. Your own emotions are not everyone else's emotions. Politics is not religion, validate your self-worth and meaning somewhere else.

They need more hate.

@Brando: It just is not working anymore. The education system has not been able to destroy logical thought entirely yet.
@okaybut: The Republicans are famous for logic.

@Brando: Lol. Well maybe both sides need to wake up.
@okaybut: Indeed. Americans no longer have shared values, though. I don't see the two visions of America and its place in the world as reconcilable.

@Brando: The Democrats are probably more aligned with the West and the Republicans with the East. But it could be about time the US looked more inward. It used to get a good ROI on Colonialism/Wars, but with Global Capitalism it does not need it as much anymore.
@okaybut: I'll never quite figure out the idea that I shouldn't be able to buy something overseas at market value. To me that's globalism. Also, I don't see my value as an American as somehow "more than" people from a developing nation. Again, different visions. Ironically, the Dems are now the free traders...

@Brando: I think it is just currently marketing on the global market value. Eventually as incomes become more similar, so would pricing. I definitely agree that Americans are not more important, but they should in my view focus some of their energies more so on internal issues for a while. The outward looking might be self-serving in the end, but I am not sure. And yes, amazing that the Dems are now more market oriented!
@okaybut: I guess I don't see the two as mutually exclusive. Focus energies at home to do what? Well, it seems (to this moderate former Democrat) to hurt people who can't afford healthcare. To get rid of environmental regulations? Yes, I know that is the goal for many, but for us it's tragic and rather depressing.

@Brando: I would say focus at home to bring better economic equality to us citizens. The gap is starting to get too large. Especially for public vs private workers. And it is a balance between the various needs of the citizens (some things have to wait - for example Germany can afford a lot now and China is waiting for the future).
