Shouldn't Republican politicians in Congress propose the repeal of the 2nd Amendment? Wouldn't that be the honorable thing to do now?

That won't happen but I'll bet anything that Virginia, a state where you don't need a permit to open carry, will put some laws on the books. It usually works that way. A lot of legislators are quick to beat their chests as long as it's going to impact someone else. That's why it's usually not a Congressmen's kid getting shipped overseas to fight.

It's like anti-gay Dick Cheney having a change of heart because his daughter is gay. Or anti-weed Michelle Malkin becoming pro-weed because it helps her kid. Or every poor "Repeal Medicaid" conservative who is now waking up to how their lives will be shattered.

Shit only becomes real to some when it happens to them. About as selfish as it gets.
@Ynotisay: The most bizarre thing ever was when ultra 'pro-life' Nancy Reagan started softening on stem cell research when she thought it might reverse old Ronnie's dementia...never mind how against it she was back when people were trying to save the lives of AIDS patients.

@bijouxbroussard: There you go. Perfect example. But they just call it "evolving" and they're off the hook.
