You can only vote on one answer.
In my opinion, minimum legal age for voting should be at least 20. You need some experience in real life to question the brainwashing of the educational system.

You assume wrongly that age is equivalent to the ability to think critically. The fact given the success of advertising is that most people are incapable of making up their OWN minds - truly thinking independently. These are the people that are targeted by in your example political advertising. For instance Donald Trump - is a marketing wizard - a natural salesman but what he has to sell does no good for anyone and he does not give a hoot about anyone other than himself first and his family second. He has no love for America other than loving to take money out of other peoples pockets and stuff it into his own but to listen to him - the Mexicans, the Chinese, dumb liberal politicians - everyone is responsible for your problems and HE is the one guy who can fix it. His supporters - all hoodwinked and incapable of critical thinking are of all ages - age is Not the determining factor to the ability to think critically - intelligence and not being lazy is the key to this and it is not dependent upon age.

Surely those in the education system, the ones supposedly being brainwashed, are the ones more likely to know, right?

And also, "brainwashing"? That's a little far. The Nazis used brainwashing in the education system, and the us one is not that bad. Sure it has problems. Sex ed is often non existant or judgemental, many of the subjects aren't that useful, and others, but it does the job, and people aren't coming out communists, so how is it brainwashing...?

I still think that if they are old enough to be sent to war, they are old enough to vote.

Wait, so the 'brainwashing' you're concerned about, is propaganda for inclusivity...?

I work as a teacher. I see how in my school 'multicultural' activities are getting more frequent. Also lectures to tell them why Europe should take more 'refugees'. Teachers are told to avoid words as 'father' or 'mother' when addressing to parents. It is much more subtle than the nazi brainwashing, but constant.

@Cierzo Multicultural clubs are being used in charter schools (owned by a Turkish man in exile in the USA with links to terrorism) as a way to indoctrinate students into radical Islam. The students are mostly minority students. The man has said he has thousands of people at his command when he needs them and I am wondering if some of those are indoctrinated students, he also has math & science charter schools, sciences could be used for some of his “projects”. Turkey wants to extradite him for being behind a coupe in 2016.

But that's common sense. Using tbe word 'parent' is common sense. We don't need paternalistic authorities to guide us even in the way we talk.

My point is that MOST of Trump supporters ARE in fact sheep - not all. Anti Immigration, xenophobic, chauvinistic, anti trade - like Trump actually believes this - his stuff comes from China - Hispanics - he touts himself as anti establishment - let me assure you he is one of the most elitist assholes the world has ever seen. If the voter acted in their own best self interests - Bernie Sanders would be president. Trump is appealing like the Bre-Ex crowd to people who have not actually voted in decades - and the frightening thing is that these sheep might make the difference. You don't need a licence to vote and you don't need a license to have children - and both are dangerous in feeble minds and hands.

Trump is not releasing his tax returns or disclosing what his effective tax rate really is. To do so would show how selfish and elitist he really is - and how effective his structuring has been to minimize the taxes that normal people pay - Trump holds himself as better than everyone else - and he gets others to pay his bills for him. That is why he turned Mara Lago into a private club - ask what he pays to buy his own apartments in NYC or what he pays for maintenance in his own buildings? He gets others to pay his bills for him.

Tump does not care about you - he only wants your vote and your money - he does not care if you starve in the street. Make America Great again? Tell us more.... a bit short on the details I think.

The ability to think critically - to make up your OWN opinions with out influence based upon the facts - and here you have to peel layers off of the onion to find the facts because what they DO counts what they say does not.

Yeah, that's why I used it. I didn't want to use brainwashing twice in a sentence... *facepalm*

Seriously though, not every student is in the same situation. I know it really bugged me whenever people said 'how's your dad' or whatever, when he was my stepdad. It just always reminded me "dead father, yay!" Which isn't fun. Not to mention with growing numbers of same sex couples, there can be more than one father or mother.

It had been a while since I was called fascist for the last time. I was starting to thing I was doing wrong. Glad to see I am not.

Propaganda is always brainwashing.

@Kindheartedguy. Thus, if we do not send women to war, we don't allow them to vote either?
Cierzo · M
@pdqsailor: Your point is that Trump supporters are sheep, and supporters of other candidates think critically?
I feel closer to Trump than to other candidates, but I think there are people unable to think critically in every political trend.
And that's the main flaw of democracy, that the votes of critical thinkers and hoodwinked morons count the same.

My country sends women to war. I don't really care about other countries. Continue with your fascist tendencies if you will.
