No. Trump's comments, though impolite and unpresidential, were pretty much to the point - much more so than the empty expressions of solidarity from other world leaders.

@MartinII: How can they be to the point when he lied about the London mayor and his comments after the attack?
RodionRomanovitch · 56-60, M
@MartinII: He took the mayor's words out of context to bolster the argument for his flailing travel ban. In the light of the tragedy that is beneath contempt.

@windinhishair: He didn't lie. He misrepresented or perhaps misunderstood. And then went on to talk some good sense.

@pezzza: Not if the travel ban would be effective.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@MartinII: He didn't misunderstand. He lied. He always lies when it suits his purposes--in this case, to push for his travel ban. When he tweeted about the travel ban, it hadn't even been established who the attackers were or whether they had even been to any of the countries subject to the ban. He knew exactly what he was saying. Lies to further his purpose.

@MartinII: “At least seven dead and 48 wounded in terror attack and mayor of London says there is “no reason to be alarmed" ..... that's a lie.

“Pathetic excuse by London mayor Sadiq Khan, who had to think fast on his ‘no reason to be alarmed’ statement. [Mainstream media] is working hard to sell it!” ...... and that's another.

@pezzza: You know Trump is lying when he takes the time to perpetuate the lie, even after being told he took the information out of context. One thing to remember about Trump--he never apologizes, ever. No matter how egregious his statements. He'll continue to lie even when he's caught. It is one of his worst of many character flaws.
RodionRomanovitch · 56-60, M
@windinhishair: It's all about to catch up with him .... starting Thursday.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@pezzza: Indeed. His approval rating is down to 38 percent and falling.
MartinII · 70-79, M
@pezzza: I don't think you know the meaning of the word "lie".
RodionRomanovitch · 56-60, M
@MartinII: Would you like to give me your definition ?
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@pezzza: Lie: A false statement deliberately presented as being true; a falsehood.

You could make a case that Trump simply misunderstood when he made his first tweet. However, when he knowingly continued the deliberate falsehood after being told it was false, that clearly constitutes a lie.
MartinII · 70-79, M
@pezzza: A lie is a purportedly factual statement which is demonstrably untrue. So, if I were to say "I am American", that would be a lie.
RodionRomanovitch · 56-60, M
@MartinII: "A lie is a purportedly factual statement which is demonstrably untrue.' ....... ok buddy now go back and read the tweets and you will find we are actually in agreement , per your definition.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@MartinII: Trump's statement about the London mayor was demonstrably untrue, and deliberately repeated at least a day after the event. In other words, a lie.
