@thatscottishguy: Would that were true! In the UK, under present leaders, vote Conservative if you want to go back to the 50s, Labour if you want to go back to the late 60s and 70s. Of course it was different a few years ago. And I think the original poster was making a wider point.

The point that they noticed the link between the words conserve and conservative? Really needed help working that one out thanks Martin. I'm voting for neither but given the choice I'll go 70s.

@thatscottishguy: The wider point, which I tried to make in an earlier post, is that at the moment I think "conservatives" are more interested in change, "liberals" more interested in preserving the status quo. Not a value judgment, just a description of things as I see them.
