Surely the opposite is the case. Liberal ideology has been dominant in the west for decades. If you are happy with that, vote for left of centre parties. If you are not, and want to change things, vote for conservative parties. (Of course, the words liberal and conservative have become somewhat misleading.)

@Burnley123: Hmm. Good point. Liberal economics plus liberal social and political policies. Interesting that the ancestors of the latter aren't as obvious as Thatcher and Reagan. Jenkins? As a civil servant in the 80s and 90s I was busy peddling left-wing social ideas, with at least tacit Ministerial approval, as well as Thatcherite economics.
