I'd be against the electoral college if Hillary had won too.

I'm not bitter about the results. I'm opposed to swing state privilege.

Florida shouldn't get a greater say just because it's a battle ground. Nor should Ohio or any of them. I want every vote equal.

Besides when you make it about the urban vs rural divide you're basically saying that A Farmer should have a greater say than Urbanized doctors in the big cities because why? You're basically saying the less informed should have a greater say just because.

Candidates for office employ a strategy of campaigning in the battle grounds while ignoring the states they're either hopelessly behind or far ahead in. Hillary Clinton ignored Oregon just as much as trump did.

It's about the way candidates actually campaign in the real world. I want to change the way campaigns are run. http://www.nationalpopularvote.com/campaign-events-2016

Agree with you on all points, pretty much. The Electoral College was created by a group of men who believed the right to vote should be limited to white males, mostly educated and property-owing in order to keep power out of the hands of the uneducated masses of the country.
USAalltheway · 31-35, M
Actually, they believed ordinary Americans should run the country instead of ivory league Liberals.

@USAalltheway: Never read any history, eh? They had a fear of "Democracy", considering it mob rule. The reason we live in a Representative Republic with an Electoral College is precisely BECAUSE they wanted to keep power in the hands of the rich and educated. Heck, the people couldn't even directly elect US Senators until the early 1900s.
USAalltheway · 31-35, M
That's not what the Founding Fathers would say.

@USAalltheway: Simply read what they wrote and see what they did.
USAalltheway · 31-35, M
Reading is for academics. It doesn't apply to the real world. I was raised to be a true Patriot and I clearly understand what America is all about better than you do.
@ChipmunkErnie: The irony is that the less educated are privileged under the electoral college. He's basically arguing that Rural Farmers should have a greater say because they "know better." about the real world. He disparages Academia. Look at it, he's basically arguing the ignorant should rule.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
LOL I'll try to get you a picture book, then.
USAalltheway · 31-35, M
@hiddeninahollowsound: No, I'm arguing the ordinary Americans should rule. The ivory league liberals are the ignorant ones.
@USAalltheway: I'm as ordinary as it gets and I oppose the electoral college.
USAalltheway · 31-35, M
You don't support Trump. That's not ordinary. Everyone I know supports Trump.
@USAalltheway: You live in a bubble.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@hiddeninahollowsound: I'm educated, love history, read around 200 books a year, am a jock and also an artist, and I say it's time to get rid of the Electoral College. The reason it was created no longer exists.
USAalltheway · 31-35, M
@hiddeninahollowsound: No, liberals are the ones who live in a bubble. Everybody knows that.

@ChipmunkErnie: You're a pompous ivory league liberal and you're destroying this country.
@USAalltheway: "Everyone knows."
USAalltheway · 31-35, M
I'm not going to watch some video made by liberals.

@USAalltheway:
@USAalltheway: You're doing exactly what created the bubble in the first place. Shopping around for media that confirms your preexisting biases. refusing to view anything that clashes with them. I bet you watch a lot of Fox news. I bet you honestly believe the media is liberally biased and have retreated into conservative enclaves.
USAalltheway · 22-25, M
@hiddeninahollowsound: No, liberals are the ones who live in a bubble. Everybody knows that.

USAalltheway · 22-25, M
I'm not going to watch some video made by liberals.

== Bubble. Irony. Hypocrisy detected.
USAalltheway · 31-35, M
Of course I watch Fox News. It's the network for ordinary Americans. Liberals watch everything else because they're afraid to leave the liberal media bubble.
@USAalltheway: Fox news is 180 degrees radically opposed to the interest of the common working man. The people who founded that network believe essentially that it was a "Healthy kind of poverty" in the 1900s in which every man understood that freedom from dire need and want was entirely his own responsibility. They opposed all of the Democratic reforms of the past 200 years. All the progressive reforms. They want to abolish social security medicare medicaid. They are not ordinary by a long shot. They're radically elitist and anti-worker.

@USAalltheway: and the Republicans are the party of big business not the workers. They're the party of industrialist leaders not "ordinary folk." Republicans are country club elitist. they couldn't be any further from ordinary.
USAalltheway · 31-35, M
Well maybe if they got rid of all that welfare bullcrap then poor people would stop being lazy and start working hard like ordinary Americans.
@USAalltheway: Poor people are lazy? Who knew?
