Yes, lets just throw out whatever parts of the constitution we don't like. That's a great idea.

You bloody liberals - you're like a team of 2nd graders playing soccer. You don't think about the big picture, you don't think about the long term results of the items on your agenda, you just see the ball in front of you and run after it in a big clump. And you know bloody well that if the popular vote had gone to Trump, but the presidency had gone to Hilary, then you wouldn't be up in arms about trying to change the system.
@BlueDiver: I do think about the "big picture." In the big picture Cascadia is politically disfranchised because http://www.nationalpopularvote.com/campaign-events-2016 Two-thirds of Presidential Campaign Is in Just 6 States.

The status quo is hell on earth. I am considering the "Big picture" The big picture is the electoral college sucks! the electoral college is completely unacceptable!

we're better off WITHOUT it in the BIG PICTURE.

Yes, and approximately 2/3rds of the population is also in those 6 states - the difference between the popular vote and the electoral vote is a matter of no more than a couple of percentage points - yes, those percentage points sometimes make a difference, but in the big picture, they swing things in the liberal direction just as often as they swing things in the conservative direction. You just don't like that Trump and Bush became president.

I agree completely that the status quo is a giant pile of shit, but eliminating the electoral college won't change that. Most politicians on both sides of the political divide will still be two faced, immoral narcissists like Trump and Hillary (among many, many others, including the most holy of liberal icons - Obama) who don't spend a second thinking about how their actions affect the lives of the hundreds of millions of people who live in america. Most people will still be too busy arguing red vs blue that they'll fail to recognize the rot that crosses all political divides.
@BlueDiver: No I hate Swing state privilege. I don't see why the swing states should get more attention from the candidates. People constantly make it about the alleged rural vs urban divide but the reality is there are equal rural and urban voters. I'm not against the electoral college because Trump and bush became president I'm against it because My state is politically disfranchised simply because it doesn't swing. Oregon is better off under the national popular vote.

Candidates will always focus their time and on the states that are most likely to net them the presidency, that's just good business.

Look I'm not saying that eliminating the electoral college wouldn't be a good thing in and of itself. What I'm saying is that it's like throwing a cup of water onto a raging inferno and expecting it to matter. It won't. So it's not worth weakening an already battered constitution by tearing apart one of the systems at the heart of this country, just to make it slightly more likely that some narcissist will pretend to care about your state's issues.
@BlueDiver: It's still an improvement. Just because it's not a perfect solution doesn't mean it's not better and is no reason not to.

I agree - just because something isn't a perfect solution doesn't mean that it isn't worth doing. In my opinion, eliminating the electoral college would do both good and harm, and the harm outweighs the good. But I live in California, which gives me a different perspective than you have. So if you want to spend your time and energy on such a small issue, then go for it. You're just like most people - focusing on the stuff that doesn't matter, while ignoring the deeper problems, just like the scum at the top want.

And look, I'm not going to read any of your articles. Every time I read an article that a liberal quotes me, I end up spending a good hour deconstructing it and pointing out the ways in which the article is skewing reality in order to support the liberal agenda, and then the liberal just quotes another article at me. I take the time to think and do the work, and they just regurgitate things that they read. It's not worth it for me to bother anymore.
