Has the Labour maifesto leak done Corbyn a favour?

These policies are really good. Who would have thought that a boring bloke with a beard would have ideas on how to make things better for the British people.

Don't read this btw. Just listen to Thereasa May saying 'strong and stable' at choreographed events. 😜

The bloke is a clown. Can't even run his own party.

@americanmeg: That's because his own party is overrun with Blairites who are desperate to keep the left down. The Labour party aren't credible because they are determined to undermine their own leader just because he's a real Labour man.
MartinII · 70-79, M
@americanmeg: Actually I think Corbyn runs his own party very effectively, as you would expect of a good Trotskyist.
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
Pathetic
And his chancellor is a Marxist. @MartinII:

Should I respond to troll argument:
The bloke is a clown. Can't even run his own party.
or strawman:

@MartinII:
Trotskyist.
Can't decide. 😜

@americanmeg: John McDonnell said that Marx had some good points and he is right.

What Marx actually wrote was a critical analysis of capitalism. You can respect Marx without being a revolutionary socialist. Some right-wing economists fall into that bracket.
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
@americanmeg: Makes him sound more appealing.
MartinII · 70-79, M
@americanmeg: Absolutely.
MartinII · 70-79, M
@thatscottishguy: In what way pathetic?
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@MartinII: To call Corbyn a trotskyist is a straw-man insult. Trotskyism was a very specific reading of Marxism and all Trotyskyists are revolutionary socialists. Corbyn isn't. It would be like me calling May a fascist.
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
The Trotskyist claim was a pathetic media attempt to make people fear JC getting in. Buying into it, is ridiculous but I think you're smarter than that so maybe you've used it for the same reason.
MartinII · 70-79, M
@Burnley123: I don't think so. I'm well aware of what a Trotskyist is - I spent several years as a member of the Labour Party in the 60s and 70s trying, at the time not very effectively, to prevent them taking control. That's what I believe Corbyn and McDonnell and their supporters to be. If proved wrong, of course I'll withdraw. But I use the term as a specific description which I believe to be accurate, not as an insult.
MartinII · 70-79, M
@thatscottishguy: I have known, or understood, Corbyn to be a Trotskyist since he entered the Commons in1983. See my response to @Burnley123.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@MartinII: No its McCarthyite.

You are talking about Labour in the 70s then well Militant Tendency were Trotskyist but McDonnell and Corbyn have always been part of the Bennite wing. Their tradition is democratic socialist. So no you are badly wrong and its a silly exaggeration.
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
Well in what ways is he a Trotskyist then?
MartinII · 70-79, M
@Burnley123: No, I don't think so.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@MartinII: Reasons please. I can say May is a fascist because well... she right wing and a bit nationalistic.
MartinII · 70-79, M
@thatscottishguy: His only concern is to maintain hard left control of the Labour Party. If that happens, Trotskyists believe, the revolution will come eventually. Perhaps sooner than any of us thinks!
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@MartinII: May says she wants more power and wants Britain to be strong against foreigners. I believe she is just like Hitler. 😜
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
😂😂😂😂 Wow your reasoning is incredible.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@thatscottishguy: Thanks buddy. ;-)
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
@Burnley123: He does actually use the words strong and stable in Mein Kampf. May = Hitler.
