Politically motivated terrorism in Scotland.

I posted about this yesterday but now police have confirmed a third case as a package containing some kind of white powder was sent to the SNP HQ in Edinburgh. Still not seen anything from the BBC. Absolutely disgusted that anyone would resort to this (even if it's just a threat).

Hardly terrorism though even if it's true.

@Marmite: The incidents have had letters with them saying "get SNP in, Tories out". It's using fear to try and get what you want- terrorism.

Grow up for god's sake. Go live in Syria for a week THEN describe a bit of white powder through the post as terrorism and see how stupid you feel. As you described it it's "threats with menaces" at best which has been on the statute books as a crime for over two hundred years but terrorism it most certainly is not.

I said it may just be a threat. Even the threat of anthrax though is a big deal. Simply because what happens over there is much worse doesn't mean this isn't terrorism. It fits within the definition.

I'm sure if it was anthrax the people there will be laughing at the cheeky little buggers that did this.

@thatscottishguy: There's zero terror involved. Fear yes, possibly, but not terror. And yes it's "trendy" to describe everything as terror related but that whole war on terror thing is fake as hell otherwise they wouldn't be fighting terror with even more terror would they.

I'm not looking for some captivating buzzword. I believe this to be a form of terrorism as the definition includes intimidation in the pursuit of political aims. I actually agree with you about the war on terror. Doesn't change my mind though. I see this as terrorism.

You see it as terrorism because you're young naive and susceptible to propaganda. Get another 40 years of hard life experience under your belt and powder through the post won't even raise an eyebrow.

Using age never works. Being old doesn't mean you're intelligent. I see it as terrorism because I know the definition. We are all susceptible to propaganda. If we are going to use age then you've swallowed far more propaganda than me. I'm not saying it's terrorism because of colour of skin (as propaganda would want), I'm not saying it's terrorism because I'm a member of the SNP. I'm saying it's terrorism because it fits in the definition.

Yeah ok you win. All I can say is I hope you die young because with your idealism growing old is gonna break your heart.

I'm not sure if that's a nice or horrible thing to say. I imagine some of my opinions will change but overall I'll still believe the same things.

@thatscottishguy: It fits the definition of terrorism, even if it's shitty low-rent terrorism compared to the pros.
