What price liberty?

Is this a hypothetical question or are you lamenting some perceived loss of rights?

Please be more specific - where are you concerned with the banning of religion? What persecution of the many for the sake of which few? What are you talking about?

What exactly are you referring to? It sounds like you might be complaining about modern western democracies, but you realize that many other countries have all these problems, and worse.

It's more complicated then that. But what you speak of sounds more like socialism.
