The south (south-south actually, the west and east are actually southwest & southeast) is where Nigeria's oil reserves are. And since oil was found in the 70s/80s, governments have continued to drill and drill and damage the environment while at it. . .and still leaving no infrastructural development in the region. Even worse is that the governors of states in the region have looted whatever funds they have. Just recently a past governor, James Ibori was released from a UK prison for money laundering. So some youths took it upon themselves to become 'freedom fighters' and fight the government for their rights. But the movement has degenerated into a ragtag group of thugs who are just lazy and seek personal compensation from the government, while solving none of the problems of the Niger Delta (south-south). So that's what that picture is trying to represent

@LoneKnight: No, the Muslin majority is in the North. The North is highly underdeveloped, but the people benefiting from the oil wells in the South and some parts of the Southeast/West are the Northern Elite. The North has some kind of 'caste system'- The Elite (governors, traditional rulers, oil well owners), the middle class (the very few educated Northerners, and the low class (farmers, cattle rearers, etc) and the 'almajiris'. The almajiris are the biggest problem of the North but the elites use them to win elections. People who can't even cater for themselves go on to have like, 10, 20 children from multiple wives, and those children become street beggars or something. A lot of almajiris became Book Haram terrorists. It was easy because fundamental Islam is the religion of Northern Nigeria.


From Nigeria's independence the North has been a parasite feeding from the South and now the South is waking up. The South has Christians, freethinkers, etc, The south us far more liberal than the Birth, the South us more developed, and the South has almost all the resources. It only makes sense to separate from the Northerners who are still stuck in the 10th century.


The only reason the South has been unable to separate for so long is because the SouthWest and SouthEast (and South-South) have never really gotten along. We've always been trying to outdo each other in technology, education, etc. And the South East has a capitalistic economy while the SouthWest is more socialist. But we both agree that apart from farm produce 'imported' from the North, the North has no tango le thing to offer Nigeria.

Islam is a cancer to civilization and human evolution.Their sole purpose is to multiply like rats despite their poverty and sufferings.
How about this internet scams and drugs.Are the Northern Muslims responsible?
It's sad to say that a lot of Nigerians are being arrested for those offences in this country.

For the internet scams, it started in the 80s. Nigeria has had a stabel docracy since 1999, but before that, a military dictator took power in a bloodless coup in 1983 with a view to erase corruption. Though some supported him, some thought he was too harsh. He was removed by another general in the army who preferred the 'old ways' in a bloodless coup. However the new dictator was extremely corrupt. Under his watch Nigeria just became worse and worse.

One thing he did was to abandoned the thousands of Nigerian students on scholarships abroad. . . To survive and not be deported some of these students started getting married to foreigners to keep their citizenship. Some American women and men even made a lot of money from thus, they got paid by Nigerian students to get married and stay married for 5 years or so.

After this scam was successful, more 'creative' scams started to come out. . .credit card fraud for students living in America was one of such. Not all students engaged in fraud but a lot who wanted the same level of comfort they had when the government supported them did. From credit card scams, they went on to email scams and so on. Then scamming started becoming a 'culture' among dropouts, after some successful scammers would return home and show off the wealth they made from internet fraud. It grew so big and the useless dictator (a Northern Muslim, as usual) did nothing about it.

In the SouthWest of Nigeria however, there's a culture to question the wealth of people, especially young people. The Yoruba people of the South West don't know how to 'mind their business', lol. Any young person who is suddenly rich will have so many rumours about him and until he acn clear the air with proof, peoole will generally not associate with him. Thats just Yoruba culture. So to an extent scammers from the SW reduced significantly.

But in the South East, the 'Jews of Africa', they're stereotyped as doing anything to make money (like the other Jews, lol. Funny enough, DNA tests have shown that they are related to the Israeli Jews). Thats part of what was represented in the meme. So wealth is wealth if you're from the Southeast. In modern day Nigeria most scammers and drug pushers are from the South East. Drug pushing was found to be easier than internet fraud for them. And their destinations are usually countries where they make the most profit- Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, etc.

If you ever visit Nigeria and you hear a guy being called a 'Yahoo' boy or 'G+' boy, they mean the person they're referring to is a scammer. 'Yahoo' due to the use of email/social media for scams.

A majority of the Northerners are not literate enough to even use computers, lol.

I am from Malaysia and a lot of local women are used by them as drug carriers.Some of these women get caught and are in foreign prison.
Those crooks are an embarrassment to all good ,smart and hard working Nigerians.

@LoneKnight: most people who don't want to speak the truth haven't experienced Muslim fundamentalists firsthand. They speak from the comfort of their homes without actually knowing how things are. Yes, not all Muslims are 'extremists' but the religion (Islam) has enough violent verses and hadith's that can be exploited to wreck havoc. Nice speaking with you😊
