i protested the war in vietnam, but there were a lot of negatives. it wasn't all putting flowers in peoples rifles and while it is a powerful pic it is far from general reality.

our protests unfortunately spilled over on to vietnam vets who were treated like scourges, had been so traumatized by the war and yet had no access to help. they were poisoned etc and came back to hate. that is the most sad thing.

as for the answer to your question i can only look to God for my inner struggles. and have no idea how to stop war when even neighbors can not get along

I am acutely aware of the negative side of the 60's...we did make good change though..change is always dark and light. I am still filled with shame at the way many people treated the soldiers when they came back...but, I also understand where those people's minds were...I was not one of them even though I lost cousins and friends in that filthy war we should not have been involved in. All that does not mean we should not protest and do it loudly...especially against this current dictatorship...no, it won't all be pretty

@mad205039: horseshit! War is profit and nothing more. My "duty" is to question any president who acts like a war mongering fascist dictator...IT'S EVERY CITIZENS DUTY. I don't buy all this patriotic crap...most young people join the military out of naivte'..for many personal reasons....not because they are courageous and ready to die... more and more are refusing to fight
