What exactly is an SJW and why is it meant to be a bad thing?

It sounds like a good thing.

It's the way they go about sharing what they believe that bugs me. Demanding that everyone listen to them and just follow. It's the immediate shower of brainless insulting that they rain on anyone who doesn't have the same views, which in many cases are hypocritical by the way. I dunno...they just really tick me off. I feel like they're all emotion and no sense of logic. That scares me.

umm does that mean trump and republicans are sjw's? the demand you just follow their beliefs and crucify you if you don't.

Maybe. Maybe not. I don't like trump nor do I hate the guy. Honestly I haven't done the most fleshed out research on him or any politician for that matter, which is why I won't claim to know everything. But I know that the reality is: Donald Trump is the president of the USA. I'm not gonna stick my head in the sand and say he isn't. And if problems shall arise at the result of his leadership, I'll do what I can to fight the problem in a legal and non-chaotic, non-rioting way as a law abiding citizen--spreading awareness by stating facts and evidence rather than hateful names and causing civil unrest.

@LadyAlera: as will i. but that is not the pont and i have no idea why you brought that up.

you said "It's the way they go about sharing what they believe that bugs me. Demanding that everyone listen to them and just follow. It's the immediate shower of brainless insulting that they rain on anyone who doesn't have the same views, which in many cases are hypocritical by the way. "

that describes how Republicans and trump have been treating people. or weren't you here during the election?'
LadyAlera · 31-35, F
@ladycae: Just like how I don't know why you brought up Trump and the republicans when the question and my answer was about SJWs.

But you brought up an understandable point. If the way people, as I said, "go about sharing their belief" specifically in the way i mentioned, determined what makes one an SJW then maybe whoever you name could be one by that definition. But I didn't say that it was what defines an SJW so....where is this going?

@LadyAlera: " in the way i mentioned, determined what makes one an SJW then maybe whoever you name could be one by that definition" good point. seems to make the whole derogatory name useless

@ladycae: Social Justice Warriors is derogatory?
ladycae · 100+, F
@LadyAlera: yes it is. it is used to insult people all the time here and on other social media.
LadyAlera · 31-35, F
@ladycae: I dunno, it actually sounds like an empowering name to me. Who wouldnt want to be warriors. And not only that, but of justice. I think many just find that the people commonly referred to as SJWs to be disagreeable and therefore the term 'SJW' becomes associated with negative feelings from then on. That's why I feel like if used in a negative tone, its just a name said with distaste for the people rather than using the term to describe their distaste in those people; if that makes sense.
ladycae · 100+, F
@LadyAlera: yes it does but unfortunately that is not how people use iy. and in the same breath say other nasty things to people because they don't like their views therefore making the nasty person an sjw and on and on it goes. so actually it is meaninless
