Help please: What is a 'liberal' in US politics? Democrat or Republican or something different?

Liberals in U.S. politics are practically non-existent. Roughly 25 out of 535 legislators would be considered liberals.

@Valentine: I actually think Liberalism will become much more represented in Congress moving forward. It's not trending backwards. Older conservatives will die out and younger liberals will become more pronounced. I think this experiment with Trump will only wake people up to the idea that they've been kissing the hand that beats them. And as the social issues Conservatives have always hung their hats on become less important and their views less accepted, they'll become louder but less relevant.

@Valentine: Yes it does. And now the pendulum is being propelled by digital technology. I think that will drive the pendulum even faster in the other direction.

@Ynotisay: have you looked at the offices right now not only does the conservatives have federal government control but many states. Democrats have lost over 1000 elected positions since 2010

dont count us out theres plenty of young conservatives
