Help please: What is a 'liberal' in US politics? Democrat or Republican or something different?

Democrats are generally considered liberal.
Republicans are the conservatives.
That doesn't always follow. There are plenty of conservative Democrats, and there used to be liberal Republicans.

And that's why I said [b]generally[/b] considered liberal.
Though, I didn't make that distinction on the other side. Republicans are pretty much always conservatives now.
@UnsureForNow: I'm told there are still some moderates in the GOP. But one rarely hears from them nowadays.😊

I don't doubt that, but they would definitely be more right leaning, at the very least.
