Has this election and its results influenced the way you now see us as opposed to how you viewed us before? Or have there been no changes at all? What comes to mind when you think of us now?

Most Americans, myself included, couldn't care less what the rest of the world thinks of us.
And that is a very very big problem.
TheProphet · M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow: Why is that a problem for you? We are still the greatest country in the world and will continue to be.
@lastbabyboomer: Greatest country according to your propaganda. You meddle in more countries then any other nation on earth. Erase entire countries you could not even find on an unmarked map and yet are probably the most ignorant nation on earth about what happens outside your own borders. You cannot run and empire forever while running around living in your own separate reality. Did not work out so well for the Brits and not even they were so proactively in denial. The USA is the first empire in history to actively pretend it is not an empire.
TheProphet · M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow: Because we can do what we want in the world with impunity.
@lastbabyboomer: And that combined with frightening ignorance is very very dangerous.
TheProphet · M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow: Not sure where you got the mistaken idea that most of us are ignorant. We are among the best educated people in the world.
@lastbabyboomer: Yeah. If you say so. Educated does not mean the same thing as informed. Reality proves otherwise. As near as I can tell your leaders for the 30 years could not pass a high school history exam based on your foreign policy decisions. As near as I can tell your education has more to do with indoctrination and propaganda then actual knowledge. Your media is a dead ringer for the old soviet Pravda. Heck a recent study was done where they convinced a majority of respondents that the US should bomb the fictional country from Disney's Alladin. And a show here in Canada had students and faculty alike at Harvard which is supposedly the best you have signing a bogus petition to end the Vancouver polar bear hunt. Just for frame of reference Vancouver is not far from Seattle.
TheProphet · M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow: I know where Vancouver is. Yes we have some ignorant teens and college age people as I expect Canada and every other country has. Don't assume our other generations are either ignorant or uninformed. Just like your country politicians don't represent our best.
@lastbabyboomer: The difference is we do not run around thinking we have all the answers and nobody else matters and that you have some god given right to break and reshape the world however you feel like without any consequences. The US flips out about Iran and calls it a rogue state and they have not attacked anyone in 200 years and yet the US has destroyed more countries and toppled more governments and killed more people then any nation on earth. It is not even close.
TheProphet · M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow: And we will continue to reshape the world the way we want it.
@lastbabyboomer: Well by the look of things you guys love death and chaos if that is the goal. Because that is definitely the result. And like a lunatic it is all about doing the same thing over and over and over again and expecting a different result. I think fortunately for the world though that is probably not going to last much longer. The US is looking more and more like the USSR circa 1989 or post war Britain. That is assuming your lunatic leaders don't manage to get us into a nuclear war with Russia first.

@LvChris: I don't disagree. If the current guard does not manage to start a nuclear war it might not matter.

Interesting. The American propaganda machine is truly impressive.
Here are a few reasons why america is NOT the greatest country in the world:

1) Absurd levels of poverty for a first world nation
2) Poor levels of education among the general population
3) Expensive healthcare that can bankrupt the average citizen
4) Rampant obesity
5) Huge hard drug imports, one of the biggest in fact
6) Incredible racial tension to the point where a race war seems imminent
7) Massive rates of incarceration. You have less than 5% of the world's population but you have 25% of the world's incarcerated population

I mean, the US is a developed nation for crying out loud.

So tell me again how the US is the greatest country in the world.
And see if you can do it without saying "lookit tha size o muh missiles! yeeehaw!"
