Will Trump's continuing disregard for the truth destroy completely whatever remains of his credibility ?

The conservative-leaning Wall Street Journal has an editorial out today with serious criticisms of President Trump for his “seemingly endless stream of exaggerations, evidence-free accusations, implausible denials and other falsehoods.”

The crux of the editorial concerns the president’s wiretapping claim that has been refuted by a number of intelligence officials and the heads of the House and Senate Intel Committees. Yet, in the words of the Journal, Trump “clings to his assertion like a drunk to an empty gin bottle.”

The editorial board concluded: "Two months into his Presidency, Gallup has Mr. Trump’s approval rating at 39%. No doubt Mr. Trump considers that fake news, but if he doesn’t show more respect for the truth most Americans may conclude he’s a fake President."

The Wall Street Journal caters to conservative/moderate Republicans. When I worked at my state's capital, there were stacks of this newspaper in doorways of every bank and financial institution. I doubt these Republicans are fans of Trump but they will side with him based on his billionaire/Goldman Sachs cabinet.

Trump's loyal base are NOT those people. They are anti-establishment (anti-Wall Street Journal) "nationalists" that read Brietbart, Drudge Report etc. They are a new breed of "Republican" that prides itself on being anti-government (among other things). I believe 4chan, Posse Comitatus and Duganites are a perfect example of this.
