The media wants them to think that. The government want to act like they still control half the world. Some people buy into it unfortunately but plenty see that they're a small country trying to keep their seat at the big boy table.

Easy to do, especially with the likes of Britain First with these kinds of attitudes seemingly becoming rather popular. Just have to try and not make assumptions that the entire population hold the same views.
