i am pretty sure that most people that voted for trump only did so out of spite...
SweetMae · 70-79, F
I can't agree with your opinion.
Marceline · F
@SweetMae: thats perfectly fine 😊
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
You might want to believe that but it really is not true. Most Trump supporters(I say most...a good number of them)are hard working middle or lower class citizens who really are tired of the state of their life. The biggest reasons they voted for Trump is because he made them promises and they believed him. Healthcare is the biggest. He won because he promised better healthcare and they did not realize that what they had WAS better ... The other was jobs. Good jobs.

If you did not get to watch Bernie Sanders talk to Trump supporters last night on Msnbc you ought to find it and check it out.

I would like to think they voted for an end to corruption. Yet, I don't think they'll get it
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
@HikingMan: they never voted for him to end corruption.
Marceline · F
@JaggedLittlePill: most people that support trump never mention any of his policies.. its just "those damn liberals" they literally care not for anythign he does or says.. but as long as it mkaes liberals mad its great and they having a field day
HikingMan · 51-55, M
The whole Drain the Swamp campaign speaks otherwise. I know that the friends I have voted for Trump under that assumption
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
@HikingMan: yea. That is what far right liberals focus on.

That is not why he won. You seem to make great points here and there but you miss the big picture.
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
@HikingMan: and your friends are a few not a representation of them all.
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
And they are idiots. Sorry to say...they didnt use their noggins.
HikingMan · 51-55, M
I tend to avoid name calling. I try to stick with the intellectual side of political discourse.

Anyway, the sample size of friends that I'm speaking of is quite diversified. Though admittedly mostly from within my home State of Massachusetts. Which by way of its far left leaning populace would seemingly offer some contrast to my understanding of their proffered views.

I'm not spiteful. We just want common sense policies like only having Legal migrants in the country. Not having illegal criminals protected by police and local authorities. Not spending our hard earned tax money on welfare benifits for illegals. Keeping terrorists out. Not having government mandate we buy health insurance at astronomical prices that we can't afford. Basically, wanting things that enhance our country not destroy it.
HikingMan · 51-55, M
I'm a moderate. Voted independent every election, both big and small, since I was around 30. I hate the fringe elements of both parties
Carissimi · 70-79, F
@HikingMan: I'm a conservative Independent. The left (based on my observations of decades) are mostly lunatics and the Republicans are mostly wimps. I support neither, but vote on issues and values important to me. The one who is most likely to address these issues gets my vote.
HikingMan · 51-55, M
That's how I voted when I was younger. Now, I will actually check any slot that is under an independent banner. I have lost all faith that either major party will address what's best for the Nation and it's people. Our government, our laws, our way of life, our right to a free and prosperous future is being sold of to multi billionaires, and global corporate interests.

America was founded upon a principle of people before government or business. We've lost our principles.
katielass · F
According to the polls (yeah lol) about 2/3 of people who voted for both candidates were actually voting against the other candidate. Neither had a tremendous amount of actual support.
SweetMae · 70-79, F
@katielass: That seems to be very accurate to me.
katielass · F
@Marceline: You should read more. Trump supporters are always talking his policies on here and in other places.
katielass · F
@HikingMan: You it the nail on the head. An end to corruption, same old same old, but you might be right. The establishment is powerful and determined not to let go of that power.
Carissimi · 70-79, F
@HikingMan: I'm putting my trust in Trump to do this, but I'll wait and see what he does with the healthcare bill and taxes. Unfortunately his immigration policies keep being challenged in the courts, but he can't be blamed for that. It's the lunatic left that have sold our country out to the globalists like Soros. Some Republicans have too. John McCain being one.
