What do you hope your country will have done 5 years from now?

Think what I want is obvious and no Americans simply being great "again" isn't enough 馃槀.

A good clean Brexit

Define clean

Out of the EU and Customs Union and a simple trade agreement with the Single Market.

Ambitious 馃槀

Not really. The first is a given, the second is the government's plan and the last is in the EU's interests.

I doubt the EU will let May just have what she wants.

@SandInMyShoes: In terms of economics, they do need us but we need them five times more (owing to respective market size). In terms of politics, they do not want us to do well. If Brexit is too successful then that will be the end of the EU.
SandInMyShoes36-40, F
@thatscottishguy: no I'm sure they won't, but the economics are in our favour.

@SandInMyShoes: How so?
SandInMyShoes36-40, F
@Burnley123: Look at who buys what from the EU. It isn't in their interests to give us a punitive deal and they realise that.
Burnley12341-45, M
@SandInMyShoes: it is in their interests politically and we need them more than they need us.
SandInMyShoes36-40, F
@Burnley123: The economy > politics. They are going to have enough trouble replacing the 2nd biggest contributor to their budget without deliberately spiking their national economies. As for us needing the EU, about as much as a fish needs a bike.
Burnley12341-45, M
@SandInMyShoes: The bike is Marine Le Pen and the existential threat of breakup. A punitive deal would hurt us more than them. Please remember me saying this and come back to me if I'm wrong. The deal will be bad and we will have a recession.
SandInMyShoes36-40, F
@Burnley123: I'll be sure to remind you of it when you're shown to be wrong. We can walk with no deal and still do better than we currently do, while the EU has to find some way of replacing our budget contributions and we're the 2nd biggest.
The EU is a failed project and while I dislike Le Pen and especially Wilders' politics, they realise it.

@SandInMyShoes: PLEASE remind me when I am proven wrong.
