Are you liking George W, as a former President?

I am liking him more and more.
I dont agree with many of his policy decisions and his reckless war in Iraq....but I wasn't there, I don't know what he was being told.

But he is being interviewed this week, and the more I see him, the more I like him. I think his work with veterans is admirable, and I'm going to buy his book about the veterans. The profits go to veterans causes.

I am definitely on side with The Democrats, and I hope they rebuild into something other than a 'Let's have a Coronation for Hillary' party, but I do admit, I like the humanity I see in George W. Bush.

For the record, I also like Melania Trump. I think she will be great.
I would have loved to have seen Sanders as President I am Still adjusting to the Donald, but I don't think they all have horns and are evil.

I think there are political and philosophical differences, and there should be.

I saw him in person at a rally. But I had the privilege of spending a whole day with his mom Barbara. You wouldn't meet a nicer and more compassionate person then her. He comes from good stock.

I have read about Barbara Bush.
She was and I'm sure still is, amazing.
I also like Laura Bush.

And his dad George H.
Yes he comes from a good family. The service to the USA they have given is beyond admirable.

@CassandraFemale17: it makes me happy we can agree on somethings.
Read Flyboys if you haven't already.

@abe182: I love to read. I'll add it to my list.

My parents tend to look side-eyed at me with books. I have more than 20 I haven't had time to touch yet, and those are the ones they see. Nevermind the many I have bought on the iPad

@CassandraFemale17:
Lol you don't need encouragement then. Always keep reading.

I'll give you a tease.
If you do get around to that book it's the story of three different soldiers in WW2. The one from the farm used to work at an ice cream shop my grandma used to go to. His ending is quite gruesome. One of the other two soldiers was HW.

@abe182: it does sound interesting.
I just finished Narrative on the Life of Frederick Douglass......actually inspired to read it by Trump's flub about him.

Fascinating read, sad, inspiring, and written with such grace, such dignity.

It should be required reading.

Currently reading The Idiot.... by Dostoyevsky.....it's a work in progress. Also reading Malala..... and just for the hell of it, Jasper Ridley's 'Henry VIII'. I also want to get next to Conrad Black's FDR

@CassandraFemale17: never stop reading. Never stop thinking. Be no ones robot.
My daughters are 3 and 5. I would be thrilled if they turned out like you.

@abe182: wow, thank you.

Well, that's up to you.
We were always encouraged to read the news and to bring real world stories to the dinner table. My parents are extraordinary good Listeners. Many parents are not. They TELL their kids opinions to have basically, and thus rush their kids away from the dinner table.

My parents are still the most interesting people I speak with. If I say something they wouldn't agree with....they suggest other ways to see things....and they suggest seeing things reasonably, with thoughtfulness.

Then there were games, like knowing world capitals, borders around each country, leaders from around the world, etc, etc.

We are all interested, engaged, curious, and reaching out in learning. That is a tribute to my parents. Not to ourselves.

You do have excellent parents.
