Do you think the two women accused of killing Kim Jong-nam, the estranged half-brother of North Korea's leader are guilty of murder?

They thought it was a TV prank, covered with a poisoned piece of cloth. He died within minutes.

My question is, where did they get the nerve agent they used to kill him? Now consider, since they had it, who else may have access to it?

someone with good knowledge in chemistry must have been involved. I don't think those girls knew what they were doing
minarth008 · 61-69, M
@Urchoice: That is one possibility, the other being that North Korea was behind his murder, what if the little dictator has access to chemical weapons, then what? If someone with the knowledge of chemistry is making this stuff, how long before millions are killed with it? You know the terrorists would love to get their hands on something like that.
DiamondInTheMud · 31-35, M
@minarth008: it's sure a dangerous weapon. Scary really. the poison just touches you're skin and you're gone.
minarth008 · 61-69, M
@Urchoice: It was a VX nerve agent which is banned world wide. Nerve agents will kill very quickly, as seen in this story. If it were to be dispersed in the air, it would kill millions in no time at all. That is why I question where they got it, and how easy would it be for terrorists to get a hold of it.

The obvious answer is the little dough boy is behind it. How many family members has he killed so far? What's one more.
minarth008 · 61-69, M
@katielass: I believe I remember reading he killed an uncle a year or so ago, plus many high ranking officials. I wonder how long till someone in their military takes him out.
DiamondInTheMud · 31-35, M
@minarth008: it's scary to know he has that chemical weapon
minarth008 · 61-69, M
@Urchoice: No kidding, I just read a story, that in 1993 when the UN outlawed VX nerve agent, there were only a handful of countries that didn't sign the agreement to destroy all of the agent that they had, and North Korea is one of those countries.
DiamondInTheMud · 31-35, M
@minarth008: I wonder if his nuclear program is just a distraction, when the real and immediate threat is chemical
minarth008 · 61-69, M
It would not surprise me a bit. I am sure he wants nukes, but he keeps saying he can take us out, so my thought now, is that he has enough of this agent, and that would take us out. It would be a lot easier to spread a nerve agent than to launch a nuclear warhead. From what I read on VX, it would be similar to nuclear fallout, the area where it is dispersed would be totally useless.

@minarth008: I've wondered if anyone would dare take him out. Or rather wished someone would. But we've seen what he does if he even suspects someone is thinking of thinking of going against him. Paranoid little shit. Maybe someone who is terminally ill and about to croak anyway.
minarth008 · 61-69, M
@katielass: I have seen stories where there is speculation among the elites in the military, but as you mentioned, when he suspects something, a bunch of people end up dead. He rules by fear, but I think at some point, he will cross the line, and someone will take him out. In my opinion, it will be no great loss. I believe he has every right to be paranoid, and sooner or later, I think he will be taken out. I am not sure of this, but I think he has killed far more people than either his father or grand father. There is the chance as well, that if North Korea is linked to the nerve agent that was used, some other country may send someone in to take him out. I see where China is starting to turn against him as well.
katielass · F
@Urchoice: Excellent point about the possible distraction. Get people watching for a nuke and it's easier to move chemical weapons.
minarth008 · 61-69, M
@katielass: Yes, Urchoice mentioned that in a previous comment. I don't know anything about ballistic weaponry, but I am sure there is a lot involved in deploying nuclear weapons, and I would assume it would be far easier to deploy chemical weapons. North Korea is one of the handful of countries that refused to destroy their stockpile of VX nerve agent, so there is no telling what is up his sleeve. My view is, no matter what he does, whether it be nuclear, or chemical, him and his country won't survive.
katielass · F
@minarth008: I agree, no big loss if he's gone but will there be someone just as bad to take his place? On the other hand sometimes it's better to deal with the devil you know. And after thinking on it again I believe you're right. He did kill an uncle but I can't specifically recall another relative.. I think they were high ranking military or cabinet members. I wish China would cut him off.
katielass · F
@minarth008: I think he'd be more likely to sell the chemicals for others to use as opposed to using them himself, don't you think.
minarth008 · 61-69, M
@katielass: I sometimes wonder what would happen if he was eliminated. It could go the way you are thinking, and that someone worse could be put into power, or even the military could take over control, and I think that would be just as bad. On the other hand though, what if the 2 Korea's were reunited like Germany? That would solve so many problems in the Asian region. I am sure he killed an uncle, and countless military and cabinet members. I think if someone show any kind of disrespect he kills them. I saw a few days ago, there China did something concerning coal, I don't think they are buying his coal anymore, and he is pissed and throwing a fit. Who knows, he may piss them off to the point, they walk in, and take him out. China is his only ally, and he is becoming an embarrassment to them.
minarth008 · 61-69, M
@katielass: I am not sure, everytime we do wargames or anything with South Korea, he starts spouting off about being able to take us out, so there is the chance he could sell the stuff, but I think he would want those few moments of being able to think he hurt us.
