So he won. So some media said he would and some didn't. Some pundits said he would win and others didn't. What are you trying to say?

No one's laughing, believe me. The very reason so many people (that would be the majority, incidentally) didn't believe he could win is that we wouldn't let ourselves think so lowly about the national IQ.
