You seem to be working on a few assumptions here. One, that there are only two genders, male and female. Two, that they must be kept separated in a restroom environment, implying 3), seeing the opposite sex in the bathroom is somehow immoral or dangerous. Further, unless you're citing the "cooties" factor, there's implicit suggestion that this mixing of sexes will lead to crime, immoral behavior, lewd behavior or some otherwise unwanted action.
But there are more than two genders. Some identify as male, some as female, some as neither, some as the opposite sex, some as another thing altogether. Some want to dress like the other sex, some want to be the other sex. And let's be clear: unless this causes functionally problematic behavior for the individual, NONE of these things are considered disorders or otherwise not normal by the medical community.
Worried about pedophilia? Molesters don't need a bathroom or an excuse to do what they already do. They know no boundaries, so how could new ones be opened to them? Worried about rape? Rape is not a sex crime and it will occur regardless of whether 12 year-olds share the same bathroom.
There have been unisex restrooms forever. No one ever lost their mind from using one. Trump says this is a states' case, and that's a legally arguable point, but it's being done with the full knowledge that federal mandate was the only way to keep discrimination at bay. In striking down the provision, they once again open the door to intolerance and bigotry.
