Do you think Obama should win an award for most average President?

Average President? To some, he may have a mediocre record, but we'll see how history looks upon it. Personally, I would describe him as a very good President. Unfortunately, he was faced with Republicans who were trapped in a bubble of ignorance and hate and who refused to give him the time of day, no less pass a piece of legislation. He created millions of jobs and got us out of a Depression. He left with a 60% approval, putting him up there with Clinton and Reagan. So yes, he was a good President, and a good decent man who handled the Office with dignity and respect, something that we're all desperately missing these days.

In the plus column there is Obamacare and the stimulus package. In the minus there is foreign policy and lack of banking reform.

Better than any Republican of course but he was a centrist for the wrong time. Its always gonna be a debate on the left as to how much Obama would have done without Republican blocking and I am of the opinion that he would have done only a bit more.

Seriously though, there's no debate as far as I'm concerned. Obama had a petulant and hostile Republican-dominated Congress sabotaging him at every turn. The Republicans, while in the throes of the worst economy in a hundred years, declared that their number one goal was, not to help bring about economic growth, but to make President Obama a failed president. And by extension make America fail. Given how supremely uncooperative Congress had been, what do you expect? Obama inherited a mess. Yet, against all odds, against a Republican party that was actively seeking to sabotage the economy, the economy grew up to +4% under Obama. Show me another president who created an economy that grew by a net +14%. I give credit to Obama for keeping us safe, getting us out of a recession/depression, repealing DADA, creating the Affordable Care Act, helping with the appeal of DOMA by urging the Supreme Court to do so, being the first sitting President to come out in support of same-sex marriage, for this and so much more. Clearly, Obama will never be judged objectively. If he were, he would certainly go down as America's most accomplished modern-day president. 馃槣
