Should politics come in the way of relationships?

So someone on here was messaging me then randomly said "I'm not messaging a dumb liberal." That got me thinking that some ppl might do that irl to ppl they actually know.

Tbh I don't care much for politics and it amazes me how there are so many more interesting things and ppl let politics come in between them. Whatever, just my opinion.

some woman in California left her husband of 22 years when he said he was a Trump supporter

That's just crazy. I hate trump but I'd never leave my husband for supporting him. She must've not liked him in the first place.

The way you view politics often reflects how you view the world. If you don't agree politically, financially, religiously, and sexually you're going to have difficulties that will need to be addressed as soon as possible. I do believe it can work, but it can just as easily show you early on that your relationship will never be able to be a healthy long term one.

I'm not a trump fan though I did vote for him only because I dislike Hillary like most feel about trump. But no matter what, to think people are out on the streets beating people up for the way someone voted goes against everything we say we are as a democratic society and is wrong for sure. People should be able to disagree and still respect each other.

I can be friends with people I disagree with. It's natural that people will disagree with each other on some things.

We'd be better off if we all kept our politics to ourselves, but that's not a popular concept these days.

Sometimes having someone on the other side of the political fence can be stimulating. If someone is self aware and can control their emotions, it can serve as a perfect opportunity to test your point of view and understanding of the world.

The true mark of an intelligent man is to be able to try on someone else's view with necessarily making it their own. Sometimes a relationship can do just that.

I don't think it's anyone's place to judge what should or should not come between people. If they are that passionate about it - on either side - how are we to know... How many people "unfriend" each other because they just can't take it, it could be then same way in real life.

I think I would have left her for reasons other than she was liberal. Lol

@USMCGUY: I would have left you for being a superficial pos.

@briyeli: you are certainly welcome to your opinion. I learned a long time ago to never get in an argument with a woman. Even if you win, you loose. Sorry you felt the need to be insulting to me. Best of luck! Have a nice day.

Agree.
I am a "Trump-Enemy" and my soul mate is a "Trump-Supporter." And although we have very different political opinions we never had just ONE argue. Our love is stronger than all this political intolerance. ๐Ÿ˜Š

That's how it should be!

It should not but some people get so heavy in their opinions that anything else is treason to them

It happens in real life all the time. Divorce even occurs because of it.

Personally I don't let it get in the way of my relationships. I'm conservative, my best friend is a feminist liberal, and we get along fine even when talking about politics.

Sorry that person was such a jerk to you.
