Why does the President keep lying ?

Presidents always have to lie. What people want, and what benefits the nation are not always the same thing. The biggest difference is that some presidents do it more intelligently than others. I mean, how many people would support the idea of hostile invasion of a foreign country on behalf of an agricultural corporation, but that's how Hawaii became a state.

@Xuan12: It's beginning to look like the burden of the office is already taking its toll on him. He's going to implode , I'd put money on it.

@pezzza: Yeah, even before the election I was thinking, "If he does get elected, he might not make it through the term." Whether medical or personal, theres a decent chance he leaves office early.
