I still think all this is a nonsense.
Massive overkill on nothing and plenty of statements about it.
Ask yourself this. That was a nothing statement. So why make it ?
Why is it important to make you aware of it ?

The man is a blow-hard, there is no doubt, there is a serious point though. He wishes to ignore the courts. Hungary has moved to being an authoritarian state recently and it did so incrementally through actions such as this.

But i don't understand what they think they're 'gaining control' of.
Unless they're after changes in the law to impose internal security measures.
To what end ?

@Picklebobble2: Power operates by convention as well as by legal written word. If Trump instructs homeland security to ignore the courts and they do so it means the courts have now power. Its also about intimidation. If you make resistance hard, then people will be more compliant over time.

So is there no check and balance against a President seeking an opportunity to circumvent the law ?
Does the Presidents instruction overrule existing law ?

@Picklebobble2: Technically no but the worry is that it can do if he is successful. Institutions and scriptures only have the power that men apply to them and if the consensus around them is and challenged breaks down...

Erode support for existing law in a bid to get it changed to something more 'favourable' ?

@Picklebobble2: Exactly.
