And to the six families who lost other family members? And what about the first responders who had to see the carnage and still see it in their nightmares? Are they all wrong? @abe182: The Connecticut Department of Public Safety reports 143 murders in the state in 2012:

They give a breakdown by age (hint: it fits the victim profiles). If you will look at page 245, it shows there were no murders in Newtown. There is also a note: "Does NOT include 27 victims of Newtown mass shooting (see State Police Misc.)" The zero number was picked up by the FBI statistics that you cite. And if you look at the State Police Miscellaneous statistics, on page 415, it shows the 27 victims of the shootings with the note: "Includes 27 victims of Newtown mass shooting". So the data is actually reflected in the table.

You've got to stop reading Infowars. You are getting false information.

@abe182: The murders would have been reported for Newtown had they fallen under the jurisdiction of the local police. These fell under State Police jurisdiction, and so were reported under their data. The report writers knew this would create confusion, so they added notes to both the Newtown and State Police statistics to make it clear that this is how they were being reported.

If you'll look in the front of the report, you'll find the report was dedicated to the memories of those killed at Newtown.

@windinhishair: thanks for your research I will look into it. But I'm not persuaded by the emotional aspect of the story.
