Do you think the US Constitution is important?

Or is it more important to be loyal to your party?

The United States Constitution is in my opinion the most important document laying out the formation and responsibilities of governing EVER WRITTEN.

To read it is a privilege, to study it an honour, and to live by it's spirit a duty.

I grew up mainly in Canada, and I am a proud dual U.S. Citizen. I think the Constitution should be required reading, and required study in all High Schools.

The Constitution, the preamble, the Bill of Rights contained within the Constitution itself, amendments etc are not only profoundly important, but are beautifully written. I think it is only too bad that those running for representative offices do not have to be tested in their knowledge, and importantly, their understanding of not only what the Founders had intended, but in the wisdom of the Amendments that followed.

The Constitution is almost a sacred document, and yet in theinfinite wisdom of the Founders it is a living document, subject to change by your grandchildren's generation as her society, and the culture in which she will live undergoes change.

Sorry if this sounds preachy, but as someone who has grown up mainly outside the U.S., but has spent loads of time here, I am a huge fan of the Constitution, and in our collective interest in upholding it.

It should never be trampled on, its relevance negated, or its rights and spirit negated by anyone who wishes to act as King, and undermine any one of us, or any group among us.

Thus, the Constitution supersedes political parties. It encompasses all of us, regardless of politics, and we should put it ahead of politics. It is as relevant as we make it. And often, it' is relevant in spite of us, which is incredible.

But what it does NOT do is guarantee the inalienable rights of Foreign Citizens to come and set up shop.

@ReaperofTime:

true, and it shouldn't. THey should immigrate legally, or seek refugee status legally, and then join in making the U.S.A. even better for their being here.

@CassandraFemale17: yes LEGALLY and then adopt Our language and flag as their own. Supporting American values. I totally support and defend LEGAL immigration. What I cannot stand are those who think it is a RIGHT and not a privilege to come here for foreign nationals and think patriotism is fascism
