BLOWBACK: GOP Redistricting Efforts Ended Up Buckshot in Their Feet.
Texas was the first state to redraw its lines in 2025, with Republicans aiming to flip at least five Democratic seats. But the GOP won just one of those redrawn seats.
Florida Republicans also redrew their map, looking to flip four Democratic-held seats. But, as of Wednesday afternoon, it appears they might fall short in all four.
North Carolina Republicans already had a very favorable map but went even further in an attempt to push out Rep. Don Davis (D) in the state’s 1st Congressional District. Despite Trump winning the region by nearly 12 points in 2024, Davis held on by nearly 3 points. According to DDHQ projections, Democrats flipped the 6th, 9th, 11th, 13th and 14th Congressional Districts in the Tar Heel State. They are also within 2 points of winning the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 8th and 10th Congressional Districts — all of which remain uncalled as of Wednesday afternoon.
Voters in California approved Proposition 50 in 2025, allowing the state to update its congressional lines to give Democrats five seats in the House — designed as a direct counter to Texas.. Unlike the Texas GOP, however, Democrats in the Golden State were victorious in all five of their redrawn districts, DDHQ projects.
Gov. Newsom OPPOSED Prop 40. I think made the right decision. I don't believe in a wealth tax. Higher income taxes for high-income earners? Yes. But not taxing the wealth that was derived from income that was already taxed.

Leila Namvar is winning no thanks to Newsom BTW. One of prop 40s sponsors. A Republican would have gotten in otherwise. Newsom was specifically against her.
Newsom is a turn coat in disguise.
All the news channels were plastered with Republican ads against prop 40 and Leila Namvar. Even using Newsom as the quote. Right up to 10 PM last night.
Did Newsom say a single word about all those ads? Not even a whisper against the Republican candidate, Greg Wallis.
I seriously am not going to forget that lack of response. Ever. Newsom just did care in any way. Not about the party, not about the ads, not about the Republican. Absolutely cared about nothing.
I'm glad that another democrat got in as governor. Perhaps he might care.
