[media=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vXQ532W5M4]

California Governor Gavin Newsom and former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger discuss California’s climate laws, clean-energy investments, electric vehicles and the state’s long-term emissions targets. Newsom calls Donald Trump “temporary” and an “invasive species” while contrasting California’s climate policy with federal policy changes. Schwarzenegger reflects on California’s fight to protect environmental laws and the state’s clean-energy transition.

I watched this with interest. And Newsome is right. Trump is temporary. But the damage he has done is not. And to save even California is going to require more..Its going to require the kind of economic realignment that Canada is undergoing relative to America right now. I have no idea how California will go about that..😷

Very good piece. I particularly like the "invasive species" quip also. It includes the whole MAGA movement and it needs to be eradicated.

@whowasthatmaskedman The parties used to have different views and agendas, but they were not radically different. Through compromise and tradeoffs things actually worked pretty well for a long time. Wealthy people and corporations were still thriving and doing quite well. And people truly in need had a safety net that gave them food and medical care. Social Security and Medicare protected our elderly parents and grandparents.

When MAGA entered the picture things changed radically. MAGA actually makes up a minority of the Republican Party. But their numbers are great enough that they hold sway over the entire party. That means that whatever Trump wants Trump gets. The very people who were and are supposed to check his unfettered power sat in their hands because they are weak.

Now if Trump were a different person it might could work out OK. Over time things would smooth out and our Democracy would correct itself. But by convincing MAGA that he is making America great again he is destroying everything that actually did make America great. (I could write 10,000 words here but I won't)

Eradicating MAGA? Well there is only one way. That starts on Nov 3. I hope every American who understands what Trump is doing to America and the world shows up in large numbers.

@MoveAlong While I hope you are right, I still see big problems on two levels. First, no matter what the vote says, I genuinely dont believe the current administration is relying on the will of the people to hold power. They will do something to negate or stall the result. Second. Even if I am wrong about that, every MAGAt will still be out there, "perverting the course of Justice" and preventing any action toward providing a real solution (And god knows there arent a lot of options left) So the new administration will be paralysed and frustrated. Much as Obama and Biden were..
Remeber that the same people who donate to the GOP donate to the Democrats and influence the representatives..😷
